Cedarcreek Elementary School’s Edible Flex Lab and garden has received a 2026 innovation award from the Association for Learning Environments, recognized during a recent Saugus Union School District board meeting. The outdoor program allows students from transitional kindergarten through sixth grade to grow produce and participate in weekly cooking lessons in a fully equipped kitchen classroom. Funded by a 2014 bond measure, the project was three years in development and officially opened to students last fall.
