Position Description:
Reports to and under the supervision of the Assistant Director, Admissions, Records and Online Services – Noncredit, the Student Services Technician I performs specialized clerical and technical diversified functions in support of a variety of service activities and noncredit educational programs, activities and events. Duties include, but are not limited to assisting with student application, registration, assessment, evaluation and implementation of programs, policies and services which include public relations, and customer service. Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Learns, understands, interprets, and applies district, state and federal regulations, laws, legal mandates, policies, rules, and guidelines to a variety of operational procedures.
• Provides administrative assistance to the Assistant Director and completes clerical detail. Supports the supervisor for scheduling front counter coverage.
• Facilitates, organizes, and prioritizes clerical and customer service functions including schedule deadlines, enrollments, handling complaints and inquiries, maintenance of office supplies and inventory and business records.
• Coordinates the collection of grades and positive attendance hours for all noncredit courses. Updates the noncredit positive attendance database on a term, weekly, and daily basis for the needs of the department. Performs and oversees data input for a variety of Admissions & Records student related functions, including processing information that may be of a privileged or sensitive nature.
• Acts as liaison between Admissions & Records department staff and the student body.
• Provides customer service and ensures customer satisfaction.
• Assists with the implementation of the Student Success and Support Program core functions of the office. This includes orientation, placement and assessment testing, scheduling appointments for the academic advisor, and registration functions.
• Informs students of legal and financial policies, as well as processes the relevant documents, records and receipts. This includes student residency and financial aid dissemination for noncredit students. 
• Maintains various records and prepares reports as required. Assists in the preparation and submission of college, federal and state mandated reports and documents.
• Assists students with registration, course selections, based upon student assessment results and past course history.
• Maintains registration and keeps records in compliance with state regulations for student records including applications, registration material, verifications, grade and positive attendance rosters, and transcripts. Assists with the operation of those regulations, as well as performing all related computer input and record maintenance tasks.
• Composes, types, edits correspondence, news
• Orders and maintains inventory of office supplies and materials, generating purchase requisitions as needed.
• Trains, schedules, and provides direction to temporary and hourly employees. Assists with the monitoring, training, and work direction of short term and/or college assistants, as directed.
• Assists in the coordination of departmental functions, special events, including with other campus departments.
• Assists with the student outreach and recruitment efforts of the College.
• Assists with off-campus applications, assessments, and registration functions.
• Assists in coordination of all noncredit workshops, celebrations, and orientations.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Experience:
Two (2) years full-time equivalent responsible and varied clerical experience working with the public in an office environment with a large clientele, including record processing experience and coordinating clerical functions.

Education:
Education equivalent to an Associate’s degree (60 semester units) from an accredited institution is required. Two (2) years full-time equivalent direct experience in addition to that identified above may be substituted for each one year (30 semester units) of college.
