Help Wanted: Transportation Coordinator
Supervise, plan and coordinate the transportation operations within the SCV Senior Center including but not limited to passenger buses and home delivered meal vehicles.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
•Direct activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking all transportation vehicles.
•Plan, organize, manage, and supervise the work of staff drivers and volunteer drivers to ensure that all work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements and DMV and Highway Patrol protocols.
•Direct investigations to verify and resolve customer complaints
•Conduct investigations in cooperation with government agencies to determine causes of transportation accidents and to improve safety procedures.
•Collaborate with other managers and staff members to formulate and implement schedules, policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
•Monitor operations to ensure that staff members comply with administrative policies and procedures, safety rules, contracts, and government regulations.
•Promote safe work activities by conducting safety audits, attending company safety meetings, and meeting with individual staff members.
•Develop criteria, application instructions, procedural manuals, and contracts for federal and state public transportation programs.
•Monitor spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets.
•Develop, implement, and supervise a routine maintenance program on company vehicles, and direct activities of staff performing repairs and maintenance to equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
•Analyze expenditures and other financial information in order to develop plans, policies, and budgets for increasing profits and improving services.
•Maintain vendor relationships by negotiating and authorizing contracts with equipment and materials suppliers while monitoring contract fulfillment.
•Recommend capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment or property as needed to increase efficiency and services of the transportation department.
•Ensure that bus drivers calculate contract billings based on Driver/Vehicle Service hours.
•Ensure that all drivers are conducting daily pre and past trip inspections of vehicles and maintain accurate route sheets.
•Submit all monthly reporting as required by contract and statistical information for the senior center.
•Other general duties as assigned.
Skills Required:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
•Appropriate Commercial Bus Operators License.
•Ability to pass Medical Examination; possess and maintain medical certification pursuant to Motor Carriers Safety Regulations (49 CFR 391.41-391.49)
•Maintain Regulatory Status with Commercial Vehicle Operators and the Department of Motor Vehicles.
•Maintain safe driving record in compliance with State of California DMV Pull Notice Program.
•Employee must participate in formal random drug testing program according to agency policy.
•Employee must inform management of any medication, prescription or OTC or physical condition that may impede their abilities to safely operate company vehicles pursuant to DMV guidelines. Medical clearance must be obtained by the Agency's Medical Consultant (authorized medical facility) to continue working while on medications or with temporary physical ailments.
•Valid California motor vehicle operator's license and proof of auto insurance. This position requires the safe operation of a motor vehicle to perform the essential functions of the job. The employee must meet the qualifications set forth in our motor vehicle safety policy. Failure to meet these qualifications could result in removal from this position.
•While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision.
•Requires a working knowledge of good body mechanic techniques which enables the ability to bend, twist, and stand without injury to perform normal job functions including:
oContinuous: upward and downward flexion of the neck.
oFrequent: sitting, repetitive use of hands to operate computers, printers and copiers.
oOccasional: walking, standing, bending and twisting of neck, bending and twisting waist, squatting, simple grasping, reaching above and below shoulder level, squatting, simple grasping, reaching above and below shoulder level and lifting and carrying files weighing up to 10 pounds. Ability to stretch, bend, stoop and lift up to 20 lbs. of office supplies
•Regular and consistent attendance
•Successful background investigation
•High-school diploma
•Able to work independently and as a team member
•Non-profit, and ideally, health or related agency experience
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Experience recruiting, hiring and supervising staff
•Skilled at maintaining budgets and managing expenses
•Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Windows, and database applications
