The Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center is recruiting for the position of Controller. The Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been providing services and programs to over 10,000 adults and seniors in the Santa Clarita Valley for almost 40 years.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Controller will manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounting, reporting, and auditing. The successful candidate must be able to navigate successfully managing and reporting revenues and expenses from multiple funding sources. It is mandatory that the successful candidate have the knowledge and experience to comply successfully with federal, state, county, and city contract and grant requirements.
As a member of the organization’s Leadership Team, the Controller must be able to lead a department in a manner that inspires creativity, collaboration, and interdependence while promoting efficiency, accountability, and responsibility. A belief in the mission of the organization is essential.
Skills Required:
• 5+ years in accounting and/or financial management; nonprofit experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business; CPA is a plus
• Strong background managing reporting and compliance of multiple funding sources
• Demonstrated success managing the daily operations of an accounting department
• Success in establishing and maintaining strategic relationships with government entities
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and initiative under the overall guidance of the Executive Director and the Board of Directors
• Experience with MAS 90 or similar accounting software; proficient in Microsoft Office
