SUMMARY:




The Quality Engineer is accountable for the successful coordination and liason of the day-to-day activities in support of areas such as QA Analysts, Product and Document Inspection, Sales, and assists in providing a resolution to any customer related inquiries. Activities include collaborating closely with internal QA Analysts and Inspection divisions, external manufacturing Inspection and Engineers, and Wesco's Sales and Marketing teams. Additionally, the Quality Engineer will assist as required with supplier on-site audits based on Wesco and/or customer requirements, for the purpose of developing reliability for existing product lines, finding effective solutions to resolve current quality and in-service performance issues; and for communicating, recommending and/or developing improvements to processes, in order to drive the highest of quality assurance in Wesco product lines.



The Quality Engineer will have a strong knowledge of aerospace manufactuing processes, AS9100 Quality Management Systems; Blueprint Reading, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing principles, Gauge Reproducibility and Repeatability, external auditing techniques, 3D Model Based Definition (CATIA, Enovia DMU, SMARTEAM), and an understanding root cause analysis related to aerospace.



By the direction of the Quality Engineering Manager, the Quality Engineer will be responsible for being involved in designated phases and facets of the validation of processes, including, but not limited to effectively analyzing and trouble-shooting technical specifications and product non-conformance; the ability to prove analytical and creative problem-solving methods; the ability to work well within a team of experienced quality engineers and sales management; the ability to engage and influence positive and constructive communications; the ability to interpret technical data and produce technical reports; and the ability to recommend effective process and/or QA Engineering changes, as necessary to produce the highest quality product and customer satisfaction.







DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Obtain and maintain a current and accurate understanding of Wesco's mission and core values
•Identify current and/or potential non-conformance problems
•Conduct root cause analysis to determine corrective actions and validation procedures
•By the direction of the Manager of Engineering, interact and collaborate with QA Analysts, manufacturer QA Inspection, and quality representatives, sales management teams, and/or customers to assist in resolving product in-service issues and complaints
•Monitor and analyze processes, quality and non-conformance data, and prepare a range of documentation, including technical reports, charts and recommendations for process or quality improvements
•Develop and maintain a detailed knowledge of product requirements
•May perform dimensional evaluation and/or initiates a series of technical evaluation tests
•Assist the Supplier Auditors in manufacturing process audits and supplier site audits, as requested
•May spear-head or lead quality engineering process improvement validation projects or teams, as requested
•Respond and attend customer, manufacturer or supplier quality meetings, as required
•Attend regularly scheduled or impromptu department or company-sponsored meetings or training, as required
•Travel, as essential to the requirement of the job



Qualifications


REQUIREMENTS:

•Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field, with applicable professional certifications
•Blueprint Reading course completion
•GD&T Certification
•Gage R&R course completion
•AS9100 Rev. C Transition course completion
•3 - 5 years of related experience within manufacturing and/or quality control; aerospace manufacturing background required
•Experience in GD&T, PFMEA, and Gage R&R
•Demonstrated ability to provide effective problem-solving techniques, corrective actions for non-performance of products, and on-site audits
•Proven ability to work well within a team of professionals, offering technical advice across interworking departments, including sales and marketing; as a project lead or technical expert
•Proven ability to interpret specifications, requirements and analyze technical data, to assist in quality validations and process improvement recommendations
•Must have ability to analyze data/, calculate reliability data and chart trends
•Must be customer-focused with ability to interface and work effectively with aircraft OEM's
•Excellent organizational and time-management skills
•Clear and accurate documentation, reporting and presentation skills
•Must have strong ability follow-through and perseverance to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
•Excellent customer service skills with the ability to deal tactfully, confidently and ethically with both internal and external customers
•Strong competency working with Digital capability Computer Aided Design (CATIA, Enovia DMU, SMARTEAM), Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook and intermediate to advanced Word and Excel (i.e., spreadsheets, formulas, importing and exporting of files, as applicable)
