Review Date: September 15, 2017
Under the supervision of the Director, Facilities and under the work direction of the Maintenance Lead, performs a variety of skilled work in the maintenance, repair and alteration of district buildings, facilities and fixtures including carpentry and tile, painting, plastering, plumbing, heating/air conditioning and electrical trades work. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Four years of experience as a skilled journeyman-level building maintenance mechanic in one or more building maintenance trades plus two years of specialty training and/or licensed certification (minimum 120 hours). Two of the four years building maintenance requirement can be substituted with two additional years of specialty training in one or more of the following areas:
Building maintenance, plumbing systems, HVAC systems, electrical systems.
Computer-controlled equipment and systems, HVAC and electrical.
Electrical and pneumatic controls, devices and sequences.
Telecommunication and electronic infrastructure and devices.
Heavy-equipment repairs: gasoline, diesel and electric.
Swimming pool facilities and equipment.
Gas, ARC and special welding and materials fabrication.
Swimming pool service maintenance.
Painting systems, drywall and wall components and systems, flooring and ceiling installations or other building finishes.
Vehicle maintenance repair.
High school diploma or its equivalent supplemented by completion of an approved apprenticeship program or equivalent based on training/experience.
Possession and renewal of any professional certificates, certifications or licenses required to maintain accreditation of specialty training.
