Summary:
The Custodian shall have the ability to perform specified services throughout the entire premises, including all office space, lobbies, corridors, stairways, entry doors, restrooms, lunchrooms, meeting rooms, elevator cabs, passageways, electrical, janitorial, mechanical, and utility areas. Maintain the cleanliness of the facility while upholding a hospitable and helpful demeanor to all.
Santa Clarita Public Library serves three branches; Canyon Country Joanne Darcy Library, Old Town Newhall Library, and Valencia Library. Cleaning services shall be performed in the evening or early morning hours when minimal staff and/or customers are in the facility.
Part-time position, 30 hours/week

Responsibilities:
Strictly adhere to the Frequency of Performance/Required Services log which will be posted in the facility
Supply and replenish all necessary supplies such as hand towels, toilet paper, soap, etc., daily; ensure a sufficient supply is provided and available until the next servicing day
Notify authorized representative when additional supplies are needed or when minor/major repairs are observed
All cleaning products must be LEED approved Green Seal products
Turn off security alarm upon entrance and reset the alarm upon exiting the building
Follow procedure established for key check out
Review and initial daily log of facility complaints and specific cleaning messages from the designated representative
Turn off lights when leaving, unless otherwise noted
Leave each interior office door as found upon entering; open or closed, locked or unlocked
Entrance doors to each suite are to always remain closed and locked during cleaning
Do not open any doors for anyone at any time
Do not prop exterior building doors open at any time
Keep exterior trash and recycling bins free and clear of debris
Keep book drops interior free and clear of debris
Trash and/or recycling containers located in the parking lots or surrounding areas shall be emptied daily
Qualifications:
Minimum Education: High school completion or equivalent
Experience Required: Two to three years of custodial experience or any combination equivalent to
Possess a Valid California Driver’s License with a safe driving record
Able to read, write, and understand written and oral directions in English
Establish and maintain friendly, cooperative, and effective working relationships with all persons contacted in the course of work
Ability to perform work in a safe manner following correct safety procedures and use of good judgement is required
Must have knowledge of chemical products used, along with proper storage of these products
Assure compliance with established rules, guidelines, regulations, and schedules
Identify and report to designated representative safety, sanitary or fire hazards immediately when observed
ADA SPECIFICATIONS:
30 hours per week-additional hours may be required to support meeting deadlines
Physical ability sufficient to move about the work environment, which may involve climbing stairs
Tolerance for regular exposure to fumes, dust and odors
Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. without limitations
Willingness to travel to designated locations
Must possess and maintain a Drivers License, have a working vehicle for traveling throughout the assigned area
